Russians go to land war with anti-submarine gun
The Russian war against Ukraine also keeps bringing out strange war equipment.
Now a snapshot from the occupied part of Ukraine was published, in which a strange Russian vehicle is transported: An armored troop carrier MT-LB with a mounted missile launcher that is actually used to hunt submarines.
The launcher is probably an RBU-6000, which actually has twelve tubes for launching depth charges. When mounted on the MT-LB, the missile tubes were apparently reduced.
The system dates back to the 1960s and was used on many ships in the Soviet Navy: The missiles can destroy submarines and torpedoes at depths of several hundred meters.
The most important reason may simply be the availability of the weapon system and ammunition: After a year and a half of intensive warfare in Ukraine, many Russian artillery systems are worn out or destroyed.
The RBU-6000 missile launcher and the associated 213 millimeter caliber rockets, on the other hand, are apparently still available in sufficient numbers.
