Overemployment Transformed My Life and Career

My coding journey began with a New Year’s resolution in 2019 to learn how to code. At that time, I was employed at a factory, manufacturing plastic parts during the night shifts. I devoted my time to learning through online tutorials on platforms like FreeCodeCamp and YouTube, taking advantage of the quiet hours during my overnight shifts. After seven months of dedicated self-study, I secured my first job as a front-end developer, where I honed my skills in HTML and CSS. My developer role was engaging, and I thrived in the learning environment it provided. I was employed at a consulting firm specializing in crafting websites for small businesses. We operated out of a bustling city office, but when the pandemic struck, we transitioned to remote work. Despite the abrupt change, I found a new sense of freedom and flexibility working from home. I embraced the opportunity to study, indulge in hobbies like video games, and work comfortably, even in my loungewear. This newfound work-life balance quickly became my preferred way of working. Embracing the remote setup, I delved into multiple remote job opportunities, a decision that might seem overwhelming to some. I, too, initially questioned the possibility of managing multiple jobs simultaneously. To find inspiration, I scoured the internet for stories of others who had successfully navigated similar paths. In this post, I’ll share my personal journey of transitioning into a state of overemployment.Starting as a novice coder in 2019, working night shifts in a factory, I gradually transformed my skills and career trajectory. From self-studying with online resources to landing my first developer job and adapting to the challenges brought by the pandemic, my story highlights the transformative power of dedication, online learning, and adapting to changing circumstances.
