The Return to Narnia
Arecent flood of articles on Medium carry a common message: engaging with readers can yield monetary benefits. That’s noted, all well and good. Yet, in contrast, I decided to focus on my engagement offline. Sure, with the cost of living today, who would turn down opportunities to make money? But because of the cost of living today, I find a need to periodically walk away from what I’m doing, to remind myself of the things that make me human. A better human. I have a list. Top on that list are friendship, freedom and future. Sometimes it’s nice to just release the rope that straps us to Life. Allow ourselves to fall, permit life to take over. And that’s what I did.
For someone who’d spent over four decades being in charge and being in control of everything, “letting go” is a new education for me. Well, better now than never. As I always say, carpe diem. So carpe diem it is. An old friend called me for a favor. She wanted me to conduct a talk on public relations to a classroom of senior undergraduates. It’s an all too familiar terrain for me. I could have said no. But before I replied, I thought about it. How about letting go, and move with flow, Natasha? I’ve not set foot in a classroom since March 2019. Though I never say never, it is my personality trait to walk out a door, close it, and not look back. Open a new door, not reopen an old one.
