The Newsroom Murders The Paper

Asa college student, my work space has been significant to me as I must be in a space where I am comfortable but not too comfortable to the point where I will slack off and not do my work. As I find myself in my Intro to Journalism class, I came across the Pilot of the Newsroom and the film, The Paper. While I enjoyed the drama and plot in The Paper, the Newsroom just dominates The Paper as in I find myself working in the Newsroom rather than the Paper. The Newsroom starts by introducing the main character, Will. Will was at a college, answering questions that students or other professors may have regarding his job. Being on of the top dawgs, Will answers most of the questions sarcastically eventually leading to cussing out a sophomore girl calling her a “sorority girl.” As that opening was very entertaining, the newsroom itself where Will works at is even more entertaining. As the newsroom was going through a potential big fall down, things started to get more intense as the newsroom starts working under new management and team. Something really significant to point out from this newsroom is that no matter what circumstances they had, the team managed to always show and tell the truth. The truth in the pilot of the series talks about an oil leakage that could potentially spread rapidly. While it may not concern anyone, it was very crucial for the newsroom to get the facts in a rapid and accurate way.You see, I would rather work in that rapid and intense environment than a calm and potentially boring environment that the Paper portrays. While both working environments seek the truth as journalists, in the newsroom it’s discipline of verication is higher than for a company writing for the paper. When being in a newsroom, the news are being broadcasted live and their facts must be accurate. This is why their discipline for verification is very crucial.
