When asked about his opinion on whether or not journalism is a dying profession, Lerner provided a well-supported response. “The institutions that support and publish journalists are absolutely dying — that’s just a demonstrable fact when you look at the number of publications that have shuttered over the past 20 years. There’s still excellent journalism all around, and it’s more important than ever for that reason, but it’s becoming more fragmented and tenuous,” said Lerner.
